Have you got ICE in your mobile or cell phone?  In Case of Emergency ( ICE ) Campaign

In the case of an emergency would the police or ambulance service know who to contact? ICE Web site
http://www.icecontact.com/

Following the attacks in London, East Anglian Ambulance Service  has
launched a national "In Case of Emergency ( ICE ) " campaign.

The  idea is that you store the word " ICE " in your mobile phone
address book.  Enter the name as ICE and the phone number of the person you would want to be contacted  "In Case of Emergency".  . For more than one contact name use: ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc. (see suggestion below)

In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital  staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple that everyone can do it.

A firefighter in Minnesota provided this great bit a advice in the use of the ICE concept.

One additional suggestion.... an ICE partner might be doing that for more than one person.  As a responder, if I call an ICE partner in this case, how do they know who I am calling about if there is no ID on the pt?  I tell people to enter the contact in their cell phone as ICE (your name).... for example, my phone has  "ICE1 (your name)", "ICE2 (your name)", etc so responders can identify me to my ICE  partners.

Editors Note:   In our phones we have taken it one step farther by adding to the ICE number as follows;

ICE1 Warrens (Wife)
ICE2 Warrens (Dad)
ICE3 Warrens (Son)
ICE4 Warrens (Daughter)

By doing this the rescuer will know who they are calling when they dial the numbers. They will not know the names but they will know the relationship.

ICE ADVICE

Follow these hints to get the best out of ICE:
  • Make sure the person whose name and number you are giving has agreed to be your ICE partner
  • Make sure your ICE partner has a list of people they should contact on your behalf - including your place of work
  • Make sure your ICE person's number is one that's easy to contact, for example a home number could be useless in an emergency if the person works full time
  • Make sure your ICE partner knows about any medical conditions that could affect your emergency treatment - for example allergies or current medication
  • Make sure if you are under 18, your ICE partner is a parent or guardian authorized to make decision on your behalf - for example if you need a life or death operation

It  really could help the emergency services in doing their job.

Thought this might be a good Idea for everybody.
